Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 380

In our civics classes we want to engage students in the study of our wonderful U.S. Constitution. Our students take a state civics end of course exam worth 30% of their final grade. In order to score well on this exam students have to have an understanding of the prupose, structure and content of the Constitution. We kick off this unit of study with a birthday party red, white and blue style. We decorate our rooms into patriotic wonderlands.

Our students will celebrate Constitution Day 2025 by recieving thier very own pocket Constitution.  Each student recieves a goody bag with patriotic items. This gets them excited to use the pocket Constitution as a reference as we learn about our wonderful government that is copied around the world.

What will be done with my students

By transforming our classrooms into patriotic wonderlands, we will captivate each student in the brilliance of this living document. Each student will receive their own hard copy of the U. S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. They will be given a goodie bag with a patriotic pencil, pen, bracelet and treat. Then will embark on a scavenger hunt using the Constitution as a primary source to complete the quest.

Benefits to my students

Students will become familiar with the structure and function of the Constitution and our government. This activity and celebration meets the state and federal requirements for our content. 7th grade civics students take a state end of course exam worth 30% of their final grade for our course. Understanding and being able to apply Constitutional principles is essential to student success on this test.
