Goal

Dear Members of the Grant Review Committee,

I am writing to request funding for the acquisition of accordions to enrich the music education program at Eden Park Elementary. Our elementary school serves students from Kindergarten through 5th grade, and we are committed to providing a well-rounded education that includes exposure to a variety of musical instruments.

Project Title: Harmonious Beginnings: Introducing Accordions to Young Musicians

Project Overview:
The "Harmonious Beginnings" project aims to introduce accordions to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade as part of our elementary music curriculum. Accordions are versatile instruments that offer unique opportunities for creative expression and musical exploration. By integrating accordions into our music program, we hope to foster a deep appreciation for music, enhance students' musical skills, and encourage their engagement in the arts. 

What will be done with my students

Project Objectives:

Instrument Familiarization: Provide hands-on experience with accordions to students of all grade levels, allowing them to explore the instrument's sound and mechanics.

Music Literacy: Use the accordion as a tool to enhance music literacy, teaching students about notes, scales, and musical theory in an engaging and interactive way.

Cultural Awareness: Introduce students to the diverse cultural backgrounds of accordion music, fostering an appreciation for different musical traditions. A huge influence in our community.

Performance Opportunities: Offer students the chance to perform accordion music at school events and assemblies, boosting their confidence and showcasing their musical talent.

Purchase of 10 student-sized accordions: $3,000
Maintenance and repair fund: $500
Music books and educational materials: $1,500
Professional development for music teachers: $1,000
Total Project Budget: $6,000
Request Amount: We are seeking a grant of $2,000 to fully fund the "Harmonious Beginnings" project.
