This application has exceeded my expectations! It truly makes my books come alive! The addition of sound effects and background music to my read alouds has added excitement and increased student engagement. This is true at all levels. I knew my Kinder and 1st grade students would love it, but I even have 4th and 5th grade students asking when I will do another read aloud with their classes!

I know limit my use of Novel Effect to one week a month so that my students stay excited about it and it does not lose its novelty.

This subscription will last one year but I hope to renew it next year so I can continue to use it with my students. Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to bring my read alouds alive by adding background music and sound effects using the Novel Effects app.

What will be done with my students

Novel Effect delivers interactive music, sound effects, and character voices that are perfectly tuned to respond as we read aloud from our library books during regular read aloud time.

As the story is read, Novel Effect gives students a more immersive experience so they’ll be on the edge of their seats with their focus on me. The story effects are for the books we already use in our curriculum and have in our library.

Students can also use this app during our STEAM centers to encourage and motivate them to read independently.

Anything that can motivate and encourage my students to read is a plus.
