Goal

To implement the foundation of sewing skills to middle school students through my Home Economics class.

To provide students with the ability to repair and/or create new items through the use of a sewing machine.

What will be done with my students

My students will be learning how to transform a variety of fabric types into completed projects through the use of a sewing machine.

Home Economics has been reintroduced into my middle school classes as an elective course. Bringing back the concept of teaching the art of sewing, my students will be able to have basic sewing skills to carry with them throughout their lives.

Benefits to my students

The students in my middle school Home Economics class will be able to learn the basic of sewing while being able to walk away with completed projects including:

- a bag
- a pillow
- hair scunchies
- mended clothing item

Budget Narrative

It would be very beneficial to have four sewing machines in my classroom, so students can have the opportunity to complete their projects in small groups in a timely fashion.

Home Economics is a semester long course.
