The goal is for students to develop interpersonal communication skills by students listening to each other and taking turns. For many of our low, shy, timid, students, it is difficult for them to find their voice. The Qball makes it so that everyone can hear each other and be a part of classroom discussions and take an active role in their learning.
As a Leader in Me school, the Qball will help students work and display Habits 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood and Habit 8- Find Your Voice. The Qball is an interactive way to engage students in the classroom with the use of technology. It is a fun way for students to be a part of the class not just bystanders. The students can hear each other; therefore, allowing for more equity. Voices do not get lost, students do not go unheard, and students can hear academic conversations and engage in it. The Qball manages classroom discussions much like a talking stick. This is technology at its best.

What will be done with my students

Students will have an opportunity throughout the school day in every learning situation to take the Qball and voice their thinking. The students learn to listen to each other in a respectful manner, which is one of life's most important skills. The teacher takes a more passive role while the students manage classroom discussions and take an active part in their learning. Students are engaged and gives their brain a boost.

Benefits to my students

The Qball will enhance verbalization with all students. Students with speech issues; students that are shy and don't speak with confidence in front of classmates will find their voice and make them feel engaged for their learning and have a greater sense of belonging in the classroom with their classmates. Students will become better listeners and show respect for differences, and learn from each other. This is a win-win for all.
