Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 28

Many students were motivated to earn the Glow Party this year.  They were reading, reading, reading.  The students who met the reading goal celebrated and had an incredible time as a reward for their reading efforts. While listening to dance music, they played glow-in-the-dark games such as basketball and huge tic-tac-toe and other fun activities like stacking and unstacking cups speedy fast while wearing glow-in-the-dark face paint, bracelets or necklaces. Top-earning grade level students were rewarded with a special glow-in-the-dark hat to wear during the glow party.  The students had such an epic time - they didn't want it to end!  Thank you, Lipman Family Farms and Champions for Learning!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I would like to create an epic glow party for students that meet a K-5 grade level reading goal.

What will be done with my students

During the glow party, students who meet the reading goal will celebrate and have an incredible time as a reward for their reading efforts. They will play glow-in-the-dark games or activities while wearing glow-in-the-dark face paint, bracelets or necklaces. Top-earning grade level students will be rewarded with a special glow-in-the-dark hat to wear during the glow party.

Benefits to my students

Students will be motivated to read to meet their goal. They love a glow party, and will work hard to earn this reward while nurturing a love of reading.
