Impact to My Classroom

This grant had a great impact on my students. We took a field trip to Hobby Lobby where students used their indepedent living skills by making choices to pick out items with the money we recieved. They picked out various items to design on the cricuit machine such as: shirts, hats, pencil pouches, aprons and blankets. Students also got to pick out beads to design bracelets for their school-based business. Students got to design their own shirts with the cricuit machine. Each student had assistant ironing on their design with the font and color of their choice. Using the cricuit machine increases their independent skills, decision making skills, along with exploring their creative side. I am excited to use the crucit machine with students next school year as well!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal is to teach students how to use a cricut machine and design their own apparel.

What will be done with my students

Students will be taught how to operate a cricut machine. Students will pick out their own materials and design. Then, students will use the cricut machine to design their unique clothing for field trips. Students will get to keep these clothes as a badge of accomplishment.

Benefits to my students

Students will gain independence by making their own decisions when designing their apparel. Using this machine will enhance their independent skills. Giving students opportunities to make their own decisions will increase their self-confidence and build self-sufficiency. This machine will also help with fine motor skills. Furthermore, this will help them to become creative and think for themselves. Students can use these skills not only in every day life but also in a work environment.

This money will be used to purchase shirts for students and the materials to design their shirts using the cricut machine.
