Impact to My Classroom

Everyday during bus drop off the APD plays welcoming music for the kids. It is a great way to start the day and expose students to different genres of music that they may not choose for themselves. Our daily attendance has increased from 93% to 95% with this change in arrival. The speaker was also used throughout the year at community events. Manatee Middle School was able to host it's first ever Farmer's Market on Saturday, April 6th. Faculty was able to communite to community partners and parents/caregivers throughout the entire event in English, Spanish and Haitian -Creole. The speaker will also play an inmportant role for our upcoming 8th grade dance. By utilizing the speaker we were able to use the funds saved for a DJ to help more students go to the Busch Gardens trip at the end of the year.

Goal(s)

The goal of a portable speaker system is to reward students during PBIS activities with music. The speaker will also be utilized during family and community events to broadcast important information.

Project Description

National anthems connect crowds at sporting events,
positive songs stir a sense of shared purpose during PBIS activities, and constant clear communication enable parents and students to develop secure attachments to their school.

Expected Outcomes

It provides a total brain workout. Research has shown that listening to music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.
