This grant has provided hands on learning experiences in science in all grade levels here at PLE! This money went further than I could have ever imagined. Some of the explorations and activities mentioned below were successful because of this grant: different STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities for kindergarten which is embedded in our science curriculum, 1st grade was able to watch different white flowers absorb colored water from the stem and dye their petals different colors to show how flowers get water, 1st and 2nd grade were able to grow plants as they learned about flower parts and what plants need to grow, 3rd grade was able to use the purchased aluminum foil to build solar ovens and cook smores, 4th grade was able to learn about chemical and physical changes through baking pancakes, and 5th grade was able to learn about the sun with solar beads and complete different chemical and physical changes with the new test tubes and baking soda. These are only some of the many ways that this grant reached our 500+ students here at PLE. We cannot thank you all enough!
