Goal

The goal of this project is to enhance the learning of students in my 2nd grade classroom, by giving them access to very short standards-aligned video clips, brief assessments, and interactive games that cover all science standards. Enabling my students with the ability to access BrainpopJr., will also allow them to explore other subject areas and current topics we will learn about throughout the upcoming school year.  

What will be done with my students

BrainpopJr. is an online program that can be used in all subject areas, ranging across K-2 grade level content. BrainpopJr. can be used with an entire class, or my students can independently access the content on their school laptops. Students are then able to watch short, engaging videos on a wide range of academic topics. Once a student completes the short video, they can access the brief quiz. All of the quizzes are differentiated into two levels, easy or hard. There are fun and engaging extension activities, as well as brief assignments that all students can access at school. Students can also use the BrainpopJr. online program to research topics and find information that interests them and to reinforce subjects and skills that they work on in class each day. The benefits of this program can help improve Science skills and deepen student engagement and understanding of topics in Mathematics, Literacy and Social Studies.
 

Benefits to my students

This program will benefit 20 students. The short videos in this program are engaging, entertaining and help reinforce new content being taught, as well as review past concepts that were taught in a fun and meaningful way. They capture the students’ interest and they are fun to watch! The best part is that each video is shorter than 5-minutes, so the students are focused and they enjoy the way the content is delivered. As a result, they keep all students engaged and they make learning memorable and fun.

 

Budget Narrative

The $175 will allow me to purchase a year long subscription to Brainpop Jr. for my 2nd grade students. It will allow all of the students to learn about content in Science , Mathematics, Literacy and Social Studies in an engaging and fun way.
