Goal

As an educator to young learners, one of my many goals is for all 18 of my students to successfully complete Pre-K with a strong foundation in pre-writing skills in order to foster a life-long love for writing.  

What will be done with my students

During daily center activity time, students will be given the opportunity to visit and learn at various work stations set up throughout the classroom. The stations are designed to allow students opportunity to work with a wide variety of materials. One particular center that I would like to see my students visit more frequently is the writing station. With the purchase of new writing center materials, my hope is that students will become more engaged during their time at this station, and ultimately strengthen and improve their pre-writing skills. The new pre-writing materials purchased will be set up at the writing station, and students will be given an opportunity to select activities/materials that interest them to work both independently and in small group.  

Benefits to my students

Through the use of these new Lakeshore writing center materials, I will be able to set up a fun and engaging writing center work station to be utilized by all 18 of my students. The bright and easy to use materials will draw attention to this academic center, allowing my students the opportunity to build and strengthen their pre-writing skills in a fun and engaging way. Students will work on skills such as fine motor control, letter/number recognition and formation. With a strong foundation in pre-writing skills, my students will leave Pre-k ready to master any writing challenges they will face.

All materials requested will be purchased through Lakeshore Learning Company. Budget includes 5 items + shipping and tax.
