Goal

With the purchase of an outdoor play cottage to be utilized on our Pre-K playground, my goal is that students will be able to express themselves creatively while developing critical social, language, and motor skills needed to thrive as young learners.  

What will be done with my students

The outdoor wooden cottage will be placed on the Pre-k playground in order to allow access for all Pre-K students at Sabal Palm Elementary. During outdoor exploration time, students will be given the opportunity to challenge themselves creatively as they cooperatively play together in and around the cottage. It is during these creative moments that students will be developing social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, and problem-solving. The play cottage also will provide students with wonderful opportunities to expand their expressive language skills as they incorporate new vocabulary in their play. In addition to social and language development, the outdoor play cottage will provide students with opportunities to strengthen both gross and fine motor skills as their imaginations transform the cottage and playground into new and exciting things!  

Benefits to my students

It is during outside play that Pre-K students are able to work simultaneously on developing so many critical skills necessary in becoming successful young learners. By having an outdoor play cottage on our playground, all 18 of my Pre-K students will have the opportunity to stretch their imaginations as they pretend play in and around the cottage. It is during these moments that students learn good character skills, develop oral language, and strengthen motor skills, all while having FUN!  

Budget Narrative

The $246.09 requested is to be used to purchase an outdoor play cottage from Amazon + sales tax.
