Goal

I would like to add more flexible seating in my classroom to help create an environment where ALL students can learn. I have some flexible seating, but would love to add to my collection. Students need to move and be actively engaged in order to effectively learn. With flexible seating, they will have the choice to find the place they learn best. Some kids need to stand, some need to sit on a couch, beanbag chair, pillow etc. and none of that is provided.  

What will be done with my students

This project will allow my students to feel like they are at home by being able to find a comfy spot in the classroom. Flexible seating allows students to be in charge of their learning environment and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they will be able to use our different areas in the room and have the option of flexible seating to help them be comfortable as they learn and practice new content/ standards. This will directly impact all standards taught throughout the year because the seating will be used daily all throughout the year.  

Benefits to my students

One of the things that I learned over the years is that flexible seating is one of the biggest helps to my students because it gets them out of their hard desks/ chairs and makes them feel comfortable enough to take chances. When students feel comfortable, they also are more engaged in the learning process- a win-win for all!

I would like to purchase one couch, five large pillows, and five lap desks from Amazon.
