Goal
To grow/propagate air plants, succulents and cacti. for our annual fundraiser for our Theatre department.
What will be done with my students
With collaboration with UF/IFAS Extension Collier County and local Master Gardeners, students will learn how to grow and propagate Air Plants, Succulents and Cacti. These plants will then be paired up with the hand-made pinch pots that the students have made to sell at the annual Winter Extravaganza.
Benefits to my students
Students will work collaboratively with adults from our community that are experts in the field of growing and propagating easy care plants. .
Students will learn and apply concepts learned in 7th grade Science-Big Idea 17: Interdependence
A. Plants and animals, including humans, interact with and depend upon each other and their environment to satisfy their basic needs.
B. Both human activities and natural events can have major impacts on the environment.
C. Energy flows from the sun through producers to consumers.
Students will be able to educate others on the care of these plants when they are sold at the Winter Extravaganza.
Students will have personal experience growing and taking care of the needs of a living organism.
