Goal

For the 2023-2024 school year I will be teaching AP Literature Composition. Two of the novels we will be reading are “Frankenstein” and the play “Macbeth”. While my students have the ability to use their electronic device to read, I would love a class set of the printed material. This will ensure each student has a book in their hand.  

What will be done with my students

AP Literature is structured to have students engage with big ideas such as character, setting, structure, narration, figurative language, and argumentation. If my students are able to hold the book and make appropriate and meaningful annotations, they will be engaged with the text and each other in an authentic way. I strongly believe that reading on paper facilities deep reading and comprehension. Students will use these books for projects, class seminars, class discussions, and AP standards-based projects.  

Benefits to my students

There is no resource more important to students’ success than access to high quality books they have readily available to them. Using the funds from your organization will allow me to purchase a class set of each of these novels. Having these books available for students will benefit my students this year and for years to come. Thank you for your consideration in donating these funds to my English classroom at Naples High School.

 

Budget Narrative

$183.75 would cover the cost of a class set of each book/play.
