Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 900

Corky's Kindness Squad consists of 20 students in grades first through fifth. These students come up with ways to spread kindness around Corkscrew Elementary. We were able to hold a sock drive in the month of October as a project to give back to the community. We collected items and donated them to our local St. Matthews House! We met up in the morning to greet our car riders, wishing them a happy Friday and getting them excited to start the day. In February, we hosted a Kindness Challenge for all of our classrooms; classes created messages about why they loved their school and displayed them proudly on their doors. They also worked to complete a Kindness Bingo as a class. Also in the month of February, we walked around in the morning and passed out motivational messages, reminding our fellow students to be kind and also providing them with a kindness pencil; the students loved this. We painted special rocks for our garden and displayed these proudly in our school garden. We have loved all of the kind things we have done and can't wait to continue to sprinkle kindness everywhere we go!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To promote kindness at Corkscrew Elementary!

What will be done with my students

The Kindness Club is made up of students in grades first through fifth. These students meet monthly to plan activities that promote kindness around our campus at Corkscrew Elementary and also pay it forward to our community. Activities include morning meetups to welcome our bears to campus with signs and cheers, sprinkle confetti with inspirational messages around classrooms to send a smile to teachers and students, create kindness rocks for our school garden to show our love for our school, February kindness month challenge for our classrooms, and canned food and sock drive to give back to community! These are just some of the great things that this special club will do at Corkscrew Elementary!

Benefits to my students

The Kindness club will help our students feel connected to their peers at Corkscrew Elementary. These activities will provide them with the tools to spread kindness wherever they go!
