Goal

Dry erase boards have been a resource used almost daily in my classroom. Students use the boards to show their work as they solve through rigorous math problems as well as to informally respond to me during teacher directed parts of lessons. They engage learners while allowing me to see who is understanding the new topic as well as who may need some extra help. Unfortunately, Dry erase markers are frequently running out of ink and can get costly to replace. When students are presented with a marker that is no longer working class time is then wasted and the student is set behind as they retrieve a new marker or have to share with a partner. These dry erase boards also get scratched and stained very easily.
My Goal is to provide my students with new "Re-Writer Writing tablets by Boogie Board." These LCD writing tablets will allow my students to be engaged in all lessons without having to worry about their markers drying out, or continue having to use stained boards that make it difficult for me to see what students have written. 

What will be done with my students

The students will use their new tablets as a way to show their work as well as to provide me with the opportunity to gage students level of understanding of various math skills. The tablet comes with a stylist to write on the boards or students can use their finger and the board can be erased and reset with a push of a button. These tablets or "Boogie Boards" will be used just about daily in my classroom as students will be able to use them also as additional workspace while solving problems which will also save loads of scrap paper.  

Benefits to my students

The key to success in any classroom is student engagement! One way I currently and frequently engage students during their Math time with me is the use of dry erase/whiteboards. Student size boards provide students with the opportunity to show their work as they solve through a problem as well as hold up to show me their answers. With the new LCD Writing tablets students will have a fun doodling and solving problems on their own personal sized tablet "boards" below I have included a link for a video provided by the manufacturer which shows the boards being used in a classroom setting!

Budget Narrative

Items #1-30 represent 30 individual student writing tablets.
Item #31 represents heavy duty storage totes that the tablets can be stored in when not being used by students. This will allow tablets to have a safe home and prevent any damage.
