Goal

As a Pre-K teacher, I am constantly searching for new and innovative ways to get all 18 of my students excited and engaged in STEM learning. With materials such as jumbo magnetic building tiles and ultimate fort building accessories, my students will be given the opportunity to design and build structures as big as they can imagine! Through the use of these quality materials, students will engage independently and in groups with hands-on learning opportunities that will target critical math, science, discovery, and design/engineering concepts. The possibilities for playing and learning with these tools in a pre-k classroom are endless! Students will be excited to choose the jumbo magnetic building tiles and fort building accessories during indoor center or outdoor playground exploration times, and will want to stay and learn for long periods of time in order to explore their limitless design and building opportunities! 

What will be done with my students

All 18 of my pre-k students will get to explore with the jumbo magnetic building tiles and snap-together fort building accessories during center and outdoor exploration time. The gigantic translucent tiles will invite children to plan, design and build structures, while ultimately fostering a life-long love for STEM! All of my students will be given the opportunity to enhance their Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills both independently and in a group setting through the use of the hands-on building materials, making it a powerhouse for learning! Teachers will be given the opportunity to engage with students all throughout the building process as they plan, design, and strategize their creations. Students will love watching their designs take form as they construct using these fun and easy-to-use magnetic and snap-together building materials.  

Benefits to my students

These easy-to-use jumbo magnetic tiles and fort building accessories will provide all of my pre-k students with optimal levels of STEM engagement all year long! Students will get to work cooperatively with high quality building materials that will challenge them to plan, problem solve, and be creative! The bright and colorful magnetic materials not only provide students with limitless building possibilities, but also provide them with the chance to explore the concept of magnetism. By working together in groups to plan, design and create unique structures, all of my pre-k students will continuously develop and strengthen their communication and oral langue skills. Additionally, they will learn to work cooperatively with their classmates, and build on social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, and listening, all while having fun!  

Budget Narrative

The $657.57 will be used to purchase 2 building material kits from Lakeshore Learning Company as well as cover the additional expense of tax and shipping.
