Goal

My goal is to get reluctant readers excited about reading. Football is a very popular sport with student. This sports set will encourage struggle readers to read.  

What will be done with my students

Students in middle school get bored with reading and some students do not enjoy fictional book. This nonfiction book series about football will encourage students to read because they are interested in the topic and career. The set also supports Reading Counts program which helps build comprehension skills. Students will be encouraged to check out the books and take reading counts quizzes. I will also encourage the journalist students to showcase the new set of books on the announcements. The new books will be displayed and available for check out in the library. 

Benefits to my students

Sports titled books appeal to all levels of readers but are very helpful for low struggling readers. This set will help build Literacy skills with ESE students, English as a second language. Students will learn about the National Football League's history and gain more knowledge about each team and players. This 32-book, action-packed series has a title for every team in the NFL. Students will love these books. 

Budget Narrative

I am asking for funds to purchase new sports football book series to add to the nonfiction library collection. I will be adding 32 new titles to the library which needs updated. I have used discussion boards and book request to guide me with the choice of books. This sport series will target reluctant readers. Many students have requested new books on football.
