My goal is to motivate and engage young students who need to stay at their desks by utilizing each child's district laptop. My hope is by using online learning programs tied to Florida's state curriculum standards the children will increase learning as well as develop a sense of community.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 34

The students were able to use the Abcya and Seesaw programs to interact with learning tools such as number games, matching, spelling, reading, writing, and interactive games with classmates either as an individual or on a team. Abcya is a collection of fun online academic games that students love to play. Each student had their own game on their device. Abcya was used in many subject areas. Seesaw is a collection of learning activities tied to standards. Students can record and take pictures of their classwork and complete online lessons.  I assigned my own lessons and used prepopulated ones. As a teacher, I was able to see my student's progress. The programs were accessed at home or at school. Parents could view student work and access teacher communication and response. These programs created a sense of class community and helped the students score well on district assessments.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to motivate and engage young students who need to stay at their desks by utilizing each child's district laptop. My hope is by using online learning programs tied to Florida's state curriculum standards the children will increase learning as well as develop a sense of community.

What will be done with my students

This year my students will have one-to-one devices to help limit the use of paper and movement around the room. The students will be able to use the Abcya and Seesaw programs to interact with learning tools such as number games, matching, spelling, reading, writing, and interactive games with classmates either as an individual or on a team. Abcya is a collection of fun online academic games that students love to play. Each student has their own game on their device. Abcya can be used in any subject area. Seesaw is a collection of learning activities tied to standards. Students can record and take pictures of their classwork and complete online lessons. Teachers can assign their own lessons or use prepopulated ones. As a teacher, I will be able to see my student's progress. The programs can be accessed at home or at school. Parents can view student work and access teacher communication and respond. Parents are not yet able to come on campus so this gives them w window into our learning.

Benefits to my students

I can access the reports in Seesaw to see who is getting the concept taught and who isn't. I can also see student responses Which lets me know who might need an intervention with additional help and who might be ready for a more challenging extension activity. In this limited movement environment, these two programs can offer a sense of class community and interaction.

Budget Narrative

These two programs will be available to both my classroom and my teaching partner's classroom providing support for two classes of kindergartners and their families at home.
