Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 300

I am super excited to have been able to create an opportunity for lifelong activities for each Gulf Coast student.  Those activities included; games unit (Shuffle Board, Bag Toss, Table Tennis, Kan Jam, Latter Toss, Spike ball), Speed ball (combination of Football, Soccer, Basketball), Pickle ball, and Badminton.  My students were extreamly appreciative to have an opportunity to be introduced to new activites this year.  Being able to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for our students in turn helps build a stronger commitment to health and wellness and it starts here at Gulf Coast.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

We are looking to add equipment to our department to allow more life long activity choices for our class sizes of 40 to 50 students per period/6 periods a day. Currently, the equipment that we have is old, broke or missing major parts.

What will be done with my students

I am looking to add equipment to our "Individual and Dual Sports" curriculum which will start in January 2022. Activities such as: Badminton, Pickle ball, Ultimate Frisbee, and Speedball. A games unit will includes: Bag Toss, Shuffleboard, Kan Jam, Table Tennis, Latter Toss, Polish Horseshoes, and Spike ball.

Benefits to my students

With added equipment, our Gulf Coast students will have the opportunity to learn many lifelong activities in hopes of building healthy lifestyle choices into their adult life. These activities could promote a healthy and active lifestyle that we are trying to create for each Gulf Coast student. My hope is to build a stronger commitment to the health and wellness of each student that follows them into their adult life.

LIFETIME FITNESS AND HEALTH PROMOTION STANDARDS that will be met:
•PE Standard 3: Participate regularly in physical activity.
•PE Benchmark L1: Use available technology to assess, design and evaluate a personal physical-activity plan.
•PE Benchmark L2: Create, implement and assess a personal fitness program in collaboration with a teacher.
•PE Benchmark L3: Develop a personal fitness program including a variety of physical activities.
