Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 35

We are so blessed to have recieved this grant!! My students benefited greatly by this because it allowed them to "shop" each "payday". I have a classroom store inside the classroom filled with items such as art stuff, socks, keychains, balls, sunglasses, chargers, headphones and many other items based around their interests. We also were able to fill it with their favorite snack items to choose from such as sodas, chips and candy! Lastly, I was able to purchase many gift cards to places they enjoy to shop from at the end of the year when they have more "money" saved up. The students love this part of the classroom and it is a huge motivational piece in keeping the students motivated to do well both on and off campus doing their jobs. Thank you again on behalf of myself and our students!!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this is to be able to have students earn a "paycheck" through classroom money in order for them to shop in a class store and practice their budgeting skills.

What will be done with my students

Each week students complete and participate in vocational learning tasks both on and off campus. Students fill out a daily timesheet and then each Friday they earn a "paycheck". Students then have to pay rent and utilities and the money they have left over they may use in the class store. We are working with 18-22 year old young adults so we try to keep the store stocked with things that interest them.

Benefits to my students

Students will be able to go shopping just like we do when we get our paychecks. A lot of our students don't go out in public due to various behavior issues when they are home so this gives them a great opportunity to do what we all have the privilege too.

Budget Narrative

The money will be used to buy gift cards to various restaurants and stores in $10.00 increments. It will also be used to purchase items that the students are interested in such as t-shirts, headphones, keychains, fun socks, balls, art supplies etc. Last but not least the money will allow us to purchase snack items and drinks the students will be able to chose from.

Items

# Item Cost
1 Various restaurant gift cards- $10 increments $300.00
2 Misc Items (tshirts, fun socks, art materials, keychains, headphones etc) $500.00
3 Snack Items (chips, drinks, cookies, candy) $200.00
  Total: $1,000.00
