Original Grant Overview
Goal
Students will improve their reading skills (decoding, fluency, comprehension) by reading graphic novels. They will also develop a love of reading.
What will be done with my students
Graphic novels are highly engaging. All students want these books! They are so popular, they are not able to get them at the library. In class, students will get to choose from these graphic novels. They will read, practice their fluency skills and work on their comprehension all through these books and class incentives. They will be so happy to read these engaging graphic novels, they won't realize how much they are learning. The key to helping students be successful is to make learning fun and enjoyable.
Benefits to my students
Learning to read can be challenging. This grant will provide my students with a fun and engaging way to learn to read. Many students do not enjoy reading. They need a fun series to get hooked on reading. I want all students to improve their reading skills, but more importantly I want them to love to read. This is a lifelong skill that is invaluable.
Budget Narrative
$248.50 will provide my students with graphic novels that they will be excited to read! Their reading, comprehension and fluency will all improve due to these highly engaging books.
