# of Students Impacted: 20

These different color pens were used throughout the subject areas. We used them to point out vocabulary words, parts of writing, and certain elements in math. Organization really helps students to succeed in their academics, and the pens helped to give a focus to their academics.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal for this project is for the students to use the colored pens to assist them in editing their writing.

What will be done with my students

Every day students write on a topic. Students also go through the editing and revising process, in order to produce a successful piece. Students will use different color pens to point out different aspects of their writing that might need to be adjusted. For example, students might use one color to circle the first letter in each sentence, to make sure it is capitalized. Students might have to underline each adjective in a different color, to ensure they have the appropriate amount of describing words. When peers edit each other's papers and mark the paper with the different colors, once receiving the paper back, the owner will know what to look for due to the meaning of the different colors.

Benefits to my students

Students will benefit from this color editing system because it will help them to organize the editing process, which will assist them in being able to identify different aspects of their writing. It will also benefit the students, as well as the teacher, when their paper is edited by others, including by the teacher. If a word or a section is identified in a specific color, the students have an idea as to what exactly needs to be addressed, which helps to save time from having a discussion about what needs to be adjusted.

Budget Narrative

This budget is to request funds for 25 students to have 5 different color pens each, as well as a replacement pen for when the ink runs out in the first pen. These pens are being order from Amazon, and the total price is $42.75 with free shipping.
