Impact to My Classroom

Nearpod has been a great resource for my students. It has allowed all my students to engage in learning during thier Civics course and collaborate with other students. Nearpod encompasses all types of learners with readings, videos, practice, and fosters collaboration with other students in the room. One of the best features that students love is the collaboration board. Students are asked a question, they write their answer and then it gets posted. Other students can "like" their comments and offer feedback to the "big picture question". They can add images as well. This has been a great tool to monitor the progress of all students and ensure every student is engaged in the lesson. Every time I tell my students to log in to NEARPOD, excitement just fills the room.

We recently completed a lesson about the role of the president. Students watch a few video clips about what the president does as part of his job. They also completed a few Constitutional requirements of being the president and what his or her qualifications have to be. NEARPOD provided several examples in history about the various roles the presidents have taken.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal with this grant is to keep students engaged in learning Civics through digital learning year round.

What will be done with my students

Students will have the opportunity to participate in lessons that are engaging and innovating. Students will engage with their peers and have meaningful lessons covering the benchmarks related to the Civics curriculum. This program has various lessons that can be used throughout the entire school year.

Benefits to my students

Students are able to receive immediate feedback on their work and participation. These lessons create a more in-depth understanding of the curriculum. Students will understand how to use electronic devices for learning and be able to continue their engagement in learning even when the school day is done. This program will be used for all 7th grade students taking Civics which is a state assessed class.

Budget Narrative

The cost of the subscription is $349 per teacher. There are two teachers who teach Civics and can utilize this subscription to benefit all 7th grade students. This platinum level subscription offers more tools and options teachers can utilize in the classroom to create innovating lessons.
