Original Grant Overview
Goal
The Osmo Explorer Set combines creative tools, games and cutting edge technology to foster creativity and problem solving skills. I want to use this set in my Media Center Makerspaces.
What will be done with my students
Our media center does not have any OSMO systems. The Explorer set contains 9 of OSMO’s most popular games.
The systems are set up in the media center's Makerspaces. Makerspaces are areas that allow students to learn creatively, collaboratively and independently through exploration.
Students will be able to practice their math and phonic skills, will learn coding and can bring their drawings to animated life!
Benefits to my students
Osmo Curriculums are available for free for educators. They can download the Teacher’s Guide and choose from over 60 lesson plans, hand-crafted for Osmo. So there is always something new! The Osmo is a tool that can be used over and over again for years to come, so this grant will benefit much more than 200 students.
Osmo’s groundbreaking system fosters social intelligence and creative thinking by opening up the endless possibilities of student learning.
Budget Narrative
The Explorer Starter Kit includes everything required to play our first seven (7) games. The kit comes with all of the following:
Osmo white base and red reflector that goes over the camera (for iPad or Amazon Fire)
Words game with two (2) complete alphabet letter tile sets (26 red and 26 blue)
Tangram game with seven (7) wood tangram shapes
Numbers game with dotted and numbered tiles
5 × 1-dot, 3 × 2-dot, and 2 × 5-dot tiles
1 each of 0–9 for the number tiles
Coding Awbie with magnetized Coding blocks
