The Goal of Merge into Virtual Reality is to introduce the Merge cube to my 3rd, 4th an d 5th grade students. The Merge Cube allows students to hold digital 3D objects, enabling the most engaging and enjoyable new way to learn. Merge enables active learning by enabling students to learn and create in entirely new ways while giving teachers simple AR/VR tools that increase student engagement, intellectual curiosity and classroom achievement. These materials will make a huge difference in their learning and their lives by making their learning come to life.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 500

This has been the coolest way for my students to learn. It has impacted them in so many ways. Students were able to transform their learning into hands-on science lessons that was incredible engaging and interactive.  They explored the Solar System, watch as the human body comes to life, and so much more in palms of their hands.  They used the  merge Cube for science in a powerful way through the use of simulations in a 3D tactile format and  turned it into an interactive augmented reality experience. So, the impact on student learning was in a word POWERFUL!!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The Goal of Merge into Virtual Reality is to introduce the Merge cube to my 3rd, 4th an d 5th grade students. The Merge Cube allows students to hold digital 3D objects, enabling the most engaging and enjoyable new way to learn. Merge enables active learning by enabling students to learn and create in entirely new ways while giving teachers simple AR/VR tools that increase student engagement, intellectual curiosity and classroom achievement. These materials will make a huge difference in their learning and their lives by making their learning come to life.

What will be done with my students

Students will be introduced to the Merge Cubes by giving students an interactive, three-dimensional learning environment. Imagine being able to see the inside of a heart and actually being able to feel it beat during a science lesson. Merge EDU lets students touch and hold science lessons, interact with STEM concepts, and be transported to virtual places. With fun activities designed to enhance lessons, kids will be engaged and inspired to learn more all year long.Merge Explorer is a science-standards aligned app for primary through intermediate grades, that allows students to learn and explore various topics with interactive, hands-on science lessons using the Merge Cube.
Students will scan the app on the iPad and then will be transformed into hands-on science lessons that are incredible engaging and interactive. Students will explore the Solar System, watch as the human body comes to life, dysect a frog, all in the palms of their hands. The merge Cube will teach science in a powerful way through the use of simulations in a 3D tactile format.Object Viewer lets students upload, view and share 3D objects on the Merge Cube. Easily turn 3D models of ancient artifacts, plant cells, sculptures, and more into virtual objects you can hold and inspect from all angles. When you scan one of the sides of the Merge Cube the cube turns into an interactive augmented reality experience.

Benefits to my students

1. bridge the academic gap using science and 3D models
2. inspire creativity
3.hands-on learning and interactivity
4. collaboration
5. motivation
6. engagement
7.stimulates inquiry

Budget Narrative

This is for 500 students to be used and integrated in the computer lab.
I do have some iPads from previous grants but with the additional 2 iPads we will almost have 2-to- 1 shared iPads so more students can use at the same time instead of waiting 2 weeks for their turn.
The required CCPS AirWatch security for iPads which I will ask PTO to cover..
