Impact to My Classroom

I was able to motivate and engage my students who needed to stay at their desks due to COVID by utilizing each child's district device. This year my students had one-to-one devices to help limit the use of paper and movement around the room. The students were able to use the Kahoot and Seesaw programs to interact with learning tools such as number games, matching, spelling, reading, writing, and interactive games with classmates either as an individual or on a team. Kahoot is a fun online quiz game that students loved to play. Each student had their own game on their device. The question comes up with the answer choices and the students each answer the question on their device. They were thrilled to see which code names were on the leader boards. We used Kahoot in every subject area. I also made quizzes to meet the needs of my students. I was able to see my student's progress. I was able to use Seesaw to assign worksheet-like activities for all the concepts we cover such as short and long vowels and sight words. The students were able to work independently and were very excited to use both programs. They often chose Kahoot and Seesaw as a reward for our PBS behavior system. Seesaw activities allowed the students to work on their own so I could do reading instruction with their classmates. These programs made a challenging instructional year so much more successful! Goal

My goal is to motivate and engage young students who need to stay at their desks by utilizing each child's district iPad. My hope is by using online learning programs tided to Florida's state curriculum standards the children will increase learning as well as develop a sense of community.

What will be done with my students

This year my students will have one to one devices to help limit the use of paper and movement around the room. The students will be able to use the Kahoot and Nearpod programs to interact with learning tools such as number games, matching, spelling, reading, writing, and interactive games with classmates either as an individual or on a team. Kahoot is a fun online quiz game that students love to play. Each student has their own game on their device. The question comes up with the answer choices and the students each answer the question on their device. They are thrilled to see which code names are on the leader boards. Kahoot can be used in any subject area. Teachers can make a quiz to meet the needs of their students or use pre-loaded quizzes.As a teacher, I will be able to see my student's progress. The program can be accessed at home or at school.

Benefits to my students

I can access the reports in Kahoot to see who is getting the concept taught and who isn't. I can also pull the Nearpod reports to see student responses This lets me know who might need an intervention with additional help and who might be ready for a more challenging extension activity. In this limited movement environment, these two programs can offer a sense of class community and interaction.

These two programs will be available to both my classroom and my teaching partner's classroom providing support for two classes of kindergartners.
