Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 407

This grant provided funding for incentives based on quarterly grade cards. Many schools have robust PTO/PTA organizations who raise tens of thousands of dollars to provide students with incentives for doing great things at their school. Golden Gate Middle does not have a PTO at all. Many of our parents work multiple jobs, do not feel comfortable participating because they do not speak English, and many keep a distance because they are not legal citizens, even though this woud not matter to us. This grant was very important to GGM because it gave us the ability to reward our students for their hard work, and encourage more students to go above and beyond.

By providing incentives for these students each quarter, it encouraged more and more students each quarter to raise their grades. Even some students did not quite meet the requirements, but they tried and increased their grades. With the financial help of this grant, we provided incentives for 3 quarters (the 4th quarter grades will be rewarded at the beginning of the 2021 school year). The first time the incentives were offered we had 302 students earn it, the second 330 students, and we ended with 407 students earning the reward!

We thank you for giving us this opportunity to reward our students and increase their overall grades!
