Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 34

Due to the pandemic, our kindergarten students all needed their own supplies and materials. The grant provided individual hands-on materials for art, math, and language arts lessons so that hands-on and creative learning could continue and thrive! Each child got their own English language arts kit and math kit that had specific manipulatives and materials for lessons to be creative. In language arts, the students had their own sight word rings, magnetic alphabet, wiki sticks and playdough to build, create, and learn to read new words. In math, pencil boxes were filled with hands-on math manipulatives, dice, cards, and counters. Each child also had their own art supplies to illustrate their learning in artistic ways.   My students learned by doing. The students remained at their desks for learning and it was important to have tools and materials that fueled their brains and allow hands-on creativity during learning of essential curriculum standards.

The students made amazing gains and all got on grade level in reading and math. They understood many concepts by using their own personal materials in their manipulative kits! They loved to make words with playdough and magnet letters. They love figuring math problems with dice, cards, and cubes! Thank you so much!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Due to the pandemic, our kindergarten students will all need their own supplies and materials. My goal is to provide individual hands-on materials for art, math, and language arts lessons so that hands-on and creative learning can continue and thrive!

What will be done with my students

Each child will get their own English language arts kit and a math kit that will hold specific manipulatives and materials for lessons to be creative. In language arts, the students would each have their own sight word rings, magnetic alphabet, wiki sticks and playdough to build, create, and learn to read new words. In math, pencil boxes would be filled with hands-on math manipulatives and counters. Each child would also have their own art supplies to illustrate their learning in artistic ways.

Benefits to my students

Young children learn by doing. As students will remain at their desks for learning it will be important to have tools and materials that will fuel their brains and allow hands-on creativity during learning of essential curriculum standards.
The students will be able to make gains and understand concepts by using their own person manipulative kits!
