My classroom goal is to have each of my student actively engaged in my classroom or virtually. I would like my students to develop an understanding of the technological concepts I am teaching through “gaming individually and on a team through the use of Quizlet. This program allows me to differentiate instruction for each student and give me immediate feedback on his or her understanding. I would also like to expand their creativity by utilizing an online program that creates books. These programs can be used in the classroom or through an e-learning classroom.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 274

This year  I routinely introduced an on-line flash card program called Quizlet to my students in third, fourth and fifth grade.  The program was highly interactive and engaging for the students.  The students were able to “play” in several modes that enabled the students to match the vocabulary content word with the definition, or they could learn to spell this word, which is always a plus.  The students loved an activity called gravity which enabled the student to integrate both skills of spelling and vocabulary knowledge while having fun.  What could be better!

I was able to find vocabulary libraries that already were created or modify these libraries to suit the needs of my students.  I could even differentiate the vocabulary list allowing students vocabulary to grow faster.  I was able to post list that matched their core content vocabulary in the area of science, math and social studies to expand the usage of this program beyond the technology world.

As all students had a computer they could participate in these learning activities from school or home.  Students could also search for vocabulary list in subject areas that were of interest to them.  Thank you for supporting this valuable teaching tool.
