Goal

If funded, the goal is to increase student and learning engagement through the QBall. Class discussions, reviews, and simple question and answers in the classroom can be brought to another level with the QBall. According to the QBall website they stand for the following: "We believe every class, meeting and event is an opportunity to change lives. But that's only possible if people can hear and learn from each other. Our mission is to give everyone a chance to participate in a fun and exciting way. "

According to the QBall Website, "Many factors can affect a students ability to hear. On average, speech must be heard at 15db over ambient noise levels in the classroom. That’s more than 2X what an adult needs! Everything from air conditioning units, to classroom acoustics and layout can impact this. Not to mention those quiet talkers. Just like a Talking Stick, the Qball helps manage classroom discussions!"  

What will be done with my students

The QBall will be used for a vareity of activites in class. First, it will enhance the classroom discussion dynamic. It's not always easy to every voice quiet and hear students who would like to share. This allows everyone to talk, engage, and discuss on a level playing field. Students with soft voices or learning the language may feel even more comfortable speaking up with the QBall. I also teach about 40 ELL students who are just starting to learn English. I feel like the QBall will make them feel more comfortable practicing the language and will have an even better learning experience in science.  

Benefits to my students

Students will feel more comfortable and at ease speaking up in class. All students will benefit because it will be much easier to hear everyone and engagement will be higher, increasing the level learning for all students. This is great for middle school students who enjoy things that can be made into a game! Not will the audience want to participate, but they actually learn more when everyone can hear what's being to be said.  

Budget Narrative

The budget is for the actual Qball that comes with the speaker and remote. All is included.
