Goal

To increase fluency, vocabulary, mathematical thinking, historical facts, scientific processes, Balanced Literacy, ELL Support, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and grammatical skills. 

What will be done with my students

Rhyme is at the core of what Flocabulary does, and research has proven its impact on student learning and achievement. I want my students to have fun while they learn - and Flocabulary is the answer to that!

Writing Rhymes with Academic Purpose (WRAP) is a practice through the Flocab rhyme-writing formula. It explores modifications to help every student write their own rhymes, and creates memorable and meaningful experiences.

With Flocabulary, we'll be able to dive deep into using rhyme in the classroom, and we'll coach students through different “WRAP formulas,” including writing rhymes to:

Master key terms
Master facts, and
Demonstrate mastery of a concept

and much more! 

Benefits to my students

I am a firm believer that children are most successful when they have smiles on their faces and are given the opportunity to share their voices. In order for meaningful learning to occur, engagement must exist first. Anyone can stand at the front of a classroom and deliver content; many educators may be able to produce academic results by doing just that. However, in order to have a lasting impact, I feel that it is absolutely necessary to focus on relationships and providing opportunities to engage in exciting, culturally-relevant learning activities.

Forming intentional relationships also helps to create a positive culture within the classroom. Within our classroom, there are undoubtedly high expectations – expectations that may be intimidating without the bond we share. The relationships that exist within our classroom and the support that my scholars provide to one another creates a safety net in which my students feel more comfortable taking risks and participating in highly interactive lessons.

When using Flocabulary, my scholars will have no shame singing aloud, dancing in front of their peers, sharing their thinking or creating raps with their classmates.
