Impact to My Classroom

Thanks to your donation for Sphero Specdrums, the students were able to see how to incorporate music and art into the computer classroom. They worked on playing music from music sheets, by reading notes or by color and using their fingers to play. They also had the ability to create sounds and use a variety of instruments. We were even able to use them at the CCPS STEAM Event, where numerous students from other schools were also able to learn about them. They were so popular the district even purchased some. Thank you for the opportunity to incorporate various related arts!

I apologize I currently don’t have any pictures, we were not counting on being out of school. When return and are able to work with the kids I will upload pictures. There are plenty on Twitter and I know we try to tag you in several so you can see all the great things that are made possible thanks to your generous donations.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to inspire my students to find a passion in the world of STEAM. Through technology I can try and reach them through innovative approaches. Specdrums are rings that create music with the use of an ipad and colors found all around them. By using STEAM to reach my students is allows me to reach students with all learning styles.

What will be done with my students

The students will be able to use technology and combine it with arts and music. They will create music with an ipad and the specdrums rings. They will use the visual world around them and look for colors (ART), this will be the way they create the sound and then they will be able to make music . This makes for a great combination of abilities and strengths, and a perfect way to integrate Art, Music, and Technology.

Benefits to my students

My students will be able to see how bringing together the wonderful world of technology with music and art can be amazing. They will find colors all over and with the Specdrums they will create music. They will become composers of music while keeping an eye out for the world and colors around them.
