Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 700

Thank you for your donation that allowed us to have unbelievable STEAM Days.    The kids were able to create and build.  Their imaginations were their only limitations.  This gift has continued to give even during the crisis.  The play-doh that was left over, was donated straight to the students and given to them with activities to work on.  I did not want to wait for next year to use the materials from this year’s grant.   This grant allowed them to create and imagine at school and will now allow some of them to continue to do so from home during these trying times.

I apologize I currently don’t have any pictures, we were not counting on being out of school.  When return and are able to work with the kids I will upload pictures.  There are plenty on Twitter and I know we try to tag you in several so you can see all the great things that are made possible thanks to your generous donations.

Thank you again!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal is to give the students a safe space to be able to imagine and create. They will be able to draw and make their creations come to life. They can work on several life skills: collaboration, problem solving, questioning, creativity.

What will be done with my students

The students will design and build with Legos, Play-Doh, and Tinker-Toys. They will be come artists, engineers, architects. Not just in theory but they will be able to see their creations come to life. They will need to come up with what to create or use the task cards to create. They will need to ask questions on how to build and problem solve when things don't go as planned. They will collaborate if working with a group, and communicate when sharing their creation.

Benefits to my students

Students are so focused on academics, that we are no longer working with their creativity. This will allow them that time to be creative and free. They will apply real world skills: creating and problem solving. They can work as individuals and explain their work allowing them to work on their communication skills or have the ability to work in teams and learn how important it is to collaborate.

Budget Narrative

The items will be purchased from Amazon, this will complement the Legos that are already in the classroom.
Adding some basics to get the students imagining and creating.
