Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 17

The grant “Where would you like to sit?” impacted 17 kindergarten students. The students were beyond excited to get new seats in the classroom. I find the students have a hard time sitting still and would rather stand or move when they are working. So help them to continue to move while working I ordered 5 yoga balls for the computers. With computers being a regular center in their routine they were over joyed to be able to have those yoga balls there. These yoga balls help them concentrate more on their work which eliminates them getting up or getting distracted. When working on the computer they are able to wiggle and bounce as much as they need. This has helped their iready scores and really increased their focus on the computer.

Another thing I purchased with this grant were 5 colorful stools for our back U shaped table. By putting those at our back table the students are sitting up taller and focusing more. They are able to move around the table a lot more efficiently which increases their time at work.

Introducing flexible seating to my classroom was a first for me this year and I couldn’t have done it without this grant! Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. We love out new seats.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Give the students the option to pick their own seats so they can sit where they can learn and focus best!

What will be done with my students

When the students enter the classroom they will have the option to pick their own seat! This could be a seat on the floor, an exercise ball, a stool, or even a regular seat. The students will find the perfect seat for them where they can fully apply themselves!

Benefits to my students

Each student learns in different ways. My students are five and six years old. When it is time to sit at their seats they get a little wiggly at times. When introducing the exercise balls the students are able to wiggle and bounce all they want while still working hard at their desk. Some students might not want to wiggle and bounce so they can choose to sit on a stool. This is just another fun and different way to sit. When the students are able to move and pick their seating they can focus more and accomplish more!

Budget Narrative

I would order these on Amazon. The first one is a pack of 5 Norwood Commercial Furniture stools for $60. Then I would order 5 separate Gaiam Kids Stay-N-Play Children's Balance Ball for $16 a piece.
