Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 600

The Immokalee Science Department is very grateful to Harlan & Heather Dam for funding the grant for our department to purchase zip grade subscriptions.  The Zip Grade optical grading software had a significant impact on reducing the time between grading and students receiving teacher feedback.  This software provided teachers with important data about their students' learning and understanding of material being taught in the classroom. Teachers were able to modify lessons and bell work to reflect an emphasis on tough concepts or concepts that were misunderstood with the data that they collected using Zip Grade. This directly impacted student learning and resulted in higher test and quiz scores. Thank you again.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To provide teachers within the science department an efficient tool for grading teacher made assessments quickly thereby enhancing their ability to identify trends in student comprehension of the benchmark standards.

What will be done with my students

Students will utilize formatted answer sheets to record their answer selections to an assessment. The teacher will then use a device (cell phone, iPad, doc camera, etc...) to scan the students’ answer sheets providing valuable instant feedback on mastery of benchmarks assessed to the teacher.

Benefits to my students

Our teachers use assessment data to drive lesson planning and instruction. Teachers will have instant feedback about student mastery or non-mastery of benchmarks with this technology. By providing this timely feedback the classroom instructor can focus more of their efforts on teaching or re-teaching the standards.

Budget Narrative

Each teacher within the science department will be provided with a subscription to ZipGrade. The 2 cases of paper will be used for printing answer sheets.
