Thanks to the generous donation from the Lucie Jenny MacCarthy Music Fund of the Community Foundation of Collier County the "Music Magic Carpet Ride" grant has been a success. This act of kindness has impacted every student attending Palmetto Elementary as it is the centerpiece, our home base, our starting point for everything we do in music class. The "ooh's and ahh's" when the students walked in and saw the vivd colors of the new carpet was motivating for both, student and teacher. They were very excited to utilize the new carpet. It made the room "new" and our weekly warm up routine fresh. The students are constantly playing the border keyboard, simulating and synchronizing their fingers with the music they hear. The students are engaged and excited about discovering more about music as what they are learning is right there at their feet, where they can easily apply the concepts to something visual and colorful. The students really enjoy sitting on something plush, comfortable, and new. It gives the room personality, inspires stewardship, and quietly encourages the students to care for their music room. It is a gift the students are thankful to have received.
