Impact to My Classroom

Students of mine and also another teacher's students have used this system to engage students during instruction, provide immediate feedback, and guided the instruction for teachers. This system allows for students to learn and see their strengths and weaknesses in a fun way and provide teachers with a quick guide to check for understanding. This is so important in a math class where students are varied in ability and need one on one support. This program allows the teacher to also see her students at a glance and pin point right away where students are lacking. Then, the teacher can adjust her instruction and also provide small group and one on one instruction to those students showing the need. In the documents, you can see this as students answer each question (red=wrong answer and green= correct answer). What separates this program from the rest is that, students and teachers can see if their answer is wrong before attempting the next question the same way and getting all of the questions wrong. Most systems give students the grade or feedback after submitting answers to every question. Therefore, they have practiced it wrong the entire time, only to find this out in the very end. Students love this as they can compete against each other in a friendly game using cars, rockets, etc.

Goal

To engage all my students through the use of technology and to be able to give instant feedback. This program checks for understanding, saves time and helps to increase learning gains and test scores.

What will be done with my students

I will be using this student response system, called Qwizdom, to monitor student progress. It allows me to use this program in my classroom through their devices, in which they connect to the internet, type in their answers, and I can provide instant feedback. My computer screen will instantly alert me to their answers so I can see who is getting it correct or incorrect. This will allow me to identify the students who need assistance, and provide them with what they need right on the spot. I can easily identify the weaknesses and strengths. This program also lets students answer in a game format if the teacher chooses. I have used this in my classroom one year and had amazing results and was able to train other teachers in my school to use it as well. Not only will my students benefit from this but also other teachers and students school wide. I have searched and shopped for many student response systems after the district decided not to replace or repair the cps clickers that the school has. Many companies were asking for tens of thousands of dollars and even required a device to be purchased or needed batteries, and/or required a fee per student. This was the cheapest product I found that is so versatile and easy to use. Only $895 fee for one year and it doesn't matter how many teachers or students use it. Phenomenal. I only hope that I get to use this product again with your help as soon as possible.
