Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 16

One benefit of these privacy shields will be to help make it so that students cannot see each other's work, and helps to enforce that their work should be for their own eyes only. These shields were used for every assessment that was given throughout the different subject areas. This helped students understand the importance being stressed of keeping their eyes on their own work, and having work that was their own and not from someone else. This will help them in April and May when they take the state assessments and it is imperative that students pay attention to only what they are doing. By using these assessments, I was better able to get a more accurate view of exactly a child's skill level, when I know that it was their own work they were presenting.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this grant request is to help remove distractions and keep students' eyes on their own work while they are completing different types of assessments.

What will be done with my students

Upon independent work time where their final product is counted as a grade to determine their status in a subject area, the students will use these privacy shields. These privacy shields will keep their work and their ideas private, and for their own eyes.

Benefits to my students

As student grow through the years, it will be more and more important that they learn that their work needs to be completely from their own ideas and effort. This is continued throughout to college! One benefit of these privacy shields will be to help make it so that students cannot see each other's work, and helps to enforce that their work should be for their own eyes only. An additional benefit will be that these shields will help to train students to keep their own eyes on their work so that when the important yearly statewide assessments arrive, this will be a non-issue. Another benefit will be that it will help to eliminate any distractions from the students placed around them. A last benefit is for teachers and that benefit will be that assessment scores for the students will have more of a chance to accurately reflect exactly what the students' levels are for a grade on any subject area that the privacy shields were used for.
