Goal

My goal is to provide all Special Needs Students in the Modified Curriculum Program at Palmetto Elementary with new headphones that can be used with computers, iPads and listening centers. The Califone 3068av headphones will be used to enhance and support Special Needs Students daily throughout all aspects of the Modified Curriculum Program.  

What will be done with my students

All 5 Modified Curriculum classrooms will be provided with a set of 10-12 headphones to be used at academic learning centers that include computers, iPads and listening centers. Students will be given appropriate instruction on personal digital learning at each center and the usage and care of the classroom headphones.  

Benefits to my students

Teachers will be able to blend individual teaching styles with technology and traditional methods by adding in new headphones for computers, iPads and listening centers. This will allow teachers to provide small group and individual instruction for our students. When students are engaged in academically appropriate programs on computers, iPads and listening centers, they are able to be independent workers. Teachers are then able to pull students for very small group instruction and one on one support. Our Special Needs students have accommodations for very small group instruction and one on one support in their Individual Education Plans. When students are independent workers, teachers are successfully able to provide these accommodations in the specific areas of need for individual students.

There are many benefits of these specific headphones. The Califone 3068av headphones have earcups made of sturdy plastic, and include hypoallergenic earpad covers. This allows the headphones to resist breakage and keeps them safe for kids to wear. The noise-reducing earcup lowers ambient noise so volume does not need to be as high, as recommended by audiologists for hearing safety. The snap-on adapter with dual plug sizes fits any media player. The mono/stereo switch is for language and computer applications. The dual volume controls are on each earcup for comfort. They have a 10-foot coiled cord and a sturdy base to resist breakage in high-use situations.
A two year warranty is provided for school use.  

Budget Narrative

The budget includes the purchase of 6 Classroom 10-Pack of 3068AV Stereo Headphones priced at 82.99 each for a total of $497.94. The headphones will be dispersed to each classroom, 1 per student. Modified Curriculum, K-5 classrooms average 10-12 students per year. The program typically adds 5-10 students per school year. The number of headphones requested will allow for the growth in student numbers. The headphones will be ordered from classroom direct on store.schoolspecialty.com that provides free shipping.
