Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 200

The “Opening You’ve Been Waiting for!” Gallery has had a large impact on numerous art students at Barron Collier High School.  Not only has it been an impact on students, but our principal has been very encouraging throughout the whole process and a huge support in the transition of the art space.  With the grant, we were able to showcase these talented students’ artwork in a more professional manner, giving students the ability to present their work to administration, guests and faulty that uses the room.  We are hoping that next year we will have students fully running the gallery, and expand the gallery to its full potential.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this grant is to encourage drawing and painting students to create a more finished, 'gallery worthy' art project by providing an in-house gallery space where their work can be displayed. You are invited to participate in the grand opening of the BCHS art gallery!

What will be done with my students

Students are going to open up their own art gallery here at BCHS. We have been given a space and a limited budget. In an effort to encourage students to do their best, we would like to purchase mat board and a set of frames so that their work can be professionally displayed. Students will learn how to mat and frame their work. Each month, a new group of top artwork will be selected and placed in the BCHS art gallery. Students, administration, guests, and faculty will be invited to view this framed artwork. Our new gallery will motivate students to create art that is award winning and gallery worthy.

Benefits to my students

This project will be a confidence booster for students and inspire them to do their best and take pride in their work. Everyone will be competing for the top spot--a matted and framed piece of artwork in the BCHS gallery. It will also provide students with the opportunity to learn how to professionally mat and frame their artwork. Students whose work is chosen will receive recognition and an addition to their resume. All students will have something to work towards and to strive for, as their will be numerous opportunities throughout the year. We hope to begin a long tradition of recognizing BCHS artists!

Budget Narrative

Frames will stay with the gallery to be used repeatedly over the years. Mat board will go with the artist and their artwork.
