Goal

Hot Dot sets allow students to work independently on the given science, math or reading skill, while giving them real time feedback. 

What will be done with my students

The Hot Dots questions cover everything we learn throughout the school year. Students can use these cards as a review back at their seats or at a center. The Hot Dot sets are crucial to helping students master the Florida State Standards. The student picks a card and reads the question. There are 4 multiple choice answers they can pick from. When the child uses the Hot Dots Pen, they instantly get a sound and a green light if they get that answer right. If it is wrong, they hear a different sound and it is a red light. This allows the teacher to be working with small groups while other students are reviewing math, science or reading skills with the Hot Dots. The students using the Hot Dots are working independently, but are still getting that important feedback.  

Benefits to my students

When students are using the Hot Dots game, they are having fun and learning at the same time. Students who are early finishers and/or advanced learners will be able to go ahead and learn about new topics that haven't been taught yet. Students who need extra support get to take their time and work at their own pace while still enjoying learning a concept. I know that with the Hot Dot sets, my students will improve their math skills, science skills and increase their reading ability.
