Goal

Our goal is to integrate technology across the kindergarten curriculum and get the kids excited to showcase their work to other students, parents and staff. We would like ipads for our classroom so that the students will be able to see how technology can be used for learning. As teachers, there are so many online resources that inspire children to share what they are learning by videotaping, logging and graphing data, puzzles that they complete and create. We are living in a world where technology is everywhere and we feel that as educators it is so important to teach them young and inspire them to use technology to learn about the world around them.  

What will be done with my students

The students will be engaged in educational aspect of using technology. They will begin to use apps that record data, use video time lapse to watch and share as their garden grows, take pictures and video of experiments, using reading apps, and math apps. The students will be able to use real world opportunities and put them into content areas through the use of technology. The students will learn and understand how technology impacts them as a learner and how that affects their world. The students will be taught internet safety and how to research topics that interest them. As educators, we feel it is so important to teach them how to use technology young and inspire them to use it to learn about the world around them.  

Benefits to my students

The benefits of using ipads is that each student will be able to learn at his or her own ability level. Ipads are a great resource to enhance learning in all content areas and for all types of learners. Another benefit that we are looking forward to seeing is the kids showcasing their own work. If they can video the garden, video experiments, video themselves reading, and practice math skills using technology they will then be able to share it on the school news and with other students across different grades. These benefits build confidence and enhance their excitement for learning. Which in the end being excited to learn is the best benefit of all.
