Goal

My goal is to provide a way for my ten special needs students to incorporate and get excited about learning new information, taking notes, and typing a written response to the text they have read.

What will be done with my students

The students will take notes using an iPad and convert their notes to a written response to the text they have read. The students have a record of their assignment to show their knowledge. It makes learning a creating visible experience to express their ideas.

Benefits to my students

GTE participates in BYOD, but since we are a Title 1 school, few of my special needs students have devices to bring to school. In addition, many of my students have minimal attention spans and taking notes the traditional way is very difficult for them. By giving students an iPad on which they can learn and practice this real world skill the students are learning independence. Note taking is a difficult concept and young students need an interactive, stimulating engaging way to motive and promote their interest to take ownership of this learning skill.

Budget Narrative

The iPads and Otterbox prices were found at Best Buys and no sales tax was added to the price, because the school can be exempt from taxes.
