Dear Donors and Sponsors, THANK YOU for your generous support of Spelling City in our classroom. Every week, our students completed twenty minutes per day of Spelling City and Vocabulary exercises utilizing this vocabulary program. Each Friday, students were presented with a spelling test, and they improved their test scores by as much as 50% with pre tests and practice tests, with quizzes presented online, and through a paper based exam on Friday. Students felt a positive sense of accomplishment through this spelling program and vocabulary word platform online. Our students also improved their comprehension scores, fluency, and word study as this program improved upon the overall learning experience of our students. Also, your grant for Spelling City provided a framework for spelling words for each grade level, and when students had difficulty with mastering a word, they could practice it more through Spelling City online. We are very grateful to you for your support of our students' learning experience in Spelling and English Language Arts. You made a tremendous difference in our students' learning, and they mastered more than 400 spelling words and vocabulary because of your generous support. Gratefully Yours, Laura Pacter

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this grant is to sponsor our spelling word list program in order for students to succeed in comprehension and practice of spelling words each week. Students will benefit from participating in spelling quizzes and pretests online, and ultimately master their spelling words in an engaging and exciting manner online.

What will be done with my students

Students will be able to access www.spellingcity.com and have more options to choose from in practicing their spelling words. Students will gain valuable skills in comprehension of words, and prepare for their assessments through a student-centered approach to spelling with academic support from their teacher.

Benefits to my students

This complete spelling program will benefit students in practicing and mastering their spelling list each week, and prepare for their test item questions at the completion of each week.

Budget Narrative

The entirety of the $52.00 will be directly applied to the sponsorship of the spelling word list on www.spelling city.com, for Ms. Pacter's class at Shadowlawn Elementary School.
