Goal

The purposeful goals for this project are:
*to create a school culture where KINDNESS is a part of daily life - KINDNESS = Pride and Respect
*to maximize a safe and caring environment
*to expose the impact of KINDNESS on health and well- being, based on current research
*to create and promote a KINDNESS ZONE throughout our school
*to highlight and celebrate random acts of KINDNESS
*to promote CYBER-KINDNESS -done through mini-public service announcements created by the students, shown on our morning news

 

What will be done with my students

The core group creating and promoting this project will be the students who are GIFTED. They will meet to create ways to reach all of our students, starting with one student at a time. With each act of KINDNESS, comes a small request to pass on KINDNESS to someone else. Listed are some great ideas on how to do it:
*core group will have cards acknowledging kindness and will give the card to another student.
*Cards will be available in the cafeteria for students to write on to say what KINDNESS means to them– can be posted on our KINDNESS WALL in the cafeteria
*Students can also write about an act of KINDNESS that someone did for them (a drop box will be available to later celebrate a student's act of KINDNESS)
*signs will be placed at strategic entrances declaring EAST NAPLES MIDDLE SCHOOL as a KINDESS ZONE.
*core group will create short presentations sharing the purpose of our project and on the benefits of KINDNESS on everyone:
-our school
-our community
-our homes
-our relationships
-our world
-Students will write THANK YOU cards throughout the school year to people in our school who help us every day- which demonstrates gratefulness
-Students will create a KINDNESS wall in the cafeteria (with a KINDNESS banner) and place their cards displaying their thoughts on KINDNESS and random acts of kindness
-Students will create a KINDNESS brochure that will be available to give to all new incoming students throughout the year. Also, they will be available for parents at any school event to show the community the positive caring environment that exists throughout our school
~Students will create mini public service announcements on the morning news 

Benefits to my students

~Education is not merely teaching core academic subjects, we also want students to be well rounded, which includes the emotional matters of the heart.
~When people are happy it is reflected in relationships, their concentration, their motivation.
~KINDNESS is an emotion that affects the function of the brain in positive ways. It benefits the giver and the recipient. ~People with high EQ are: able to manage emotions properly; communicate better; demonstrate empathy and forgiveness easily. They are more resilient during difficult challenges of life and high EQ correlates to accomplishing goals and success.
~The KINDNESS PROJECT will touch EVERY student at our school. It will contribute to improved health, a united sense of belonging to our school, elevate their self-esteem and this will contribute to a mind that can now concentrate on their academics and a successful future. Our students will be better prepared to contribute positively to our community and to our world. 

Budget Narrative

My estimated prices are current prices from STAPLES. I had to estimate the cost on the items that are printed:
banners, cards, yard signs. I am not sure if it entails any additional costs.
