Goal

To improve vocabulary, fluency and reading comprehension, students will listen to text read orally on CDs by various readers. Through accessing text that is higher level, students have the opportunity to think about comprehension on a higher level and therefore participate in book talks.  

What will be done with my students

Students will have audiobooks and players available in their classrooms and Media Center to use during reading times. The students will listen to the book and then have opportunities to participate in book talks in the Media Center related to the books. The discussions will include higher level thinking questions to support thinking and analysis. 

Benefits to my students

The students will benefit by learning higher level vocabulary supported by context clues. Students will hear excellent examples of oral reading to improve fluency. The media specialist will be having book talks related to these books and more students will be able to participate as a result of having access to the text. 

Budget Narrative

I have asked for 1 copy of each of the 2015-2016Sunshine State books available as an audiobook. The splitters and adapters will support existing equipment.
