Goal

My goal is to provide my reluctant readers with alternative activities that give them hands on engaging practice to build their foundational reading skills with vocabulary and comprehension concepts.

What will be done with my students

VersaTiles provide hands-on practice engages students with high-interest reading passages and independent activities featuring graphic organizers, cutaway diagrams, crossword puzzles, and more. Students who struggle with attention, focus, and behavior stay engaged with the activities and appreciate the immediate gratification of creating the correct pattern when they complete an activity correctly.

The program combines the challenge of a puzzle while practicing skills to solve the pattern, offering many activities that allow students to practice skills with the class as a whole, with a partner, and independently allowing them to work at their own pace.

The ability to make mistakes and self-correct fosters student motivation and engagement. Skills focused on include: reading comprehension, vocabulary skills, reading confidence, phonics, spelling, study skills, and grammar.

Benefits to my students

VersaTiles Reading/Language Arts is based on research linking conceptual understanding, practice of skills, concepts, and problem solving. They help increase student motivation and engagement within the classroom. These resources are made to appeal to different learning styles and target specific skill sets that break down different parts of comprehension depending on the skill that each student needs. By using VersaTiles, my students and I can be more versatile in class!
