Walton Education Foundation

My goal for my ESE students’ is to increase their learning through updated textbooks, workbooks, and learning materials. Most of my resources are outdated at best and nonexistent in most cases. My most modern text goes back to 2004 and my average text is 1996. Well I don’t know about you but life has changed a lot since 1996 and 2004! For most subjects, my students lack the foundational textbook that could then easily be supplemented for their learning level. With more and more websites going to pay subscriptions it is hard to find decent up to date material to teach with. This grant would allow me to have access to updated material to increase engagement and learning.

What will be done with my students

My ESE students will use the textbooks/workbooks to gain a foundational knowledge of the subject with which they are enrolled. These will be used immediately to assist the daily lessons.

Benefits to my students

ESE students benefit from text rich material that is also on their comprehension level. The benefit will be two fold for my students. On one hand they will benefit from current real-world examples of the subjects they are taking and their impact on their daily lives. It will also allow me to focus more time on remediating and supplementing their lessons to enhance what they are already getting from the current rich text.

Budget Narrative

This grant will allow me to have an anchor for the subjects I teach. Most items on the list are single items with the Life Skills games being the most expensive. Life Skills are crucial to my special learners and the power of play enhances those important lessons taught.
